The history of LX Factory dates back to the 19th century, when it was founded as a textile factory (Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense). At the time, Lisbon was going through a period of industrialisation and LX Factory was one of the many factories that sprang up during this period. The factory operated successfully for many years, but eventually went into decline with the decline of the textile industry in Portugal.

In the 1990s, the abandoned factory complex was bought by a group of investors who saw its potential as a creative hub. They began renovating the buildings and attracting artists, designers and other creative professionals to the space.

Today, LX Factory is home to art galleries, design studios, concept stores, cafés and live music venues. The factory’s industrial past is still marked in its architecture, but it has been transformed into a modern space for urban culture.
